Ride to Willow Springs Raceway was Beautiful
It was a classic California Spring day for motorcycle riding on April 13th, with temperatures in the mid 80's and not a cloud in the sky. Our ride to the Corsa Classica at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, Ca was approximately 150 mile round trip from our starting point at Valleycycles in Chatsworth, CA. Our trip took us through beautiful Bouquet, Vasquez, Spunky and San Francisquito Canyon Roads. We also had views of Bouquet Reservoir and Elizabeth Lake along our journey. But probably the most amazing sight was the California Poppy's in full bloom as we popped out of the mountains on our way to the Mojave Desert floor. Our straight route up 110th street cut a path through the colorful fields of bright orange Poppy's, a spectacular sight seen only once each year. Once at Willow Springs Raceway, we took in the nostalgic sights, sounds and smells of vintage motorcycles (and thier vintage pilots), navigating the impressive 2.5 mile circuit that has played host to racing vehicles from go-karts to Indy cars. Our return trip featured a stop at The Rock Inn - Lake Elizabeth, CA , a popular biker stop, for some food, drink and live rock & roll. a splendid time was had by all.
